Hey, so I’ve scouted the goldsmiths website aimlessly for a bunch of time to no avail; I see that there’s a penalty, but no specifications as to what the penalty is.
I happened to be 2 hours late on the coursework portfolio submission for one of my modules, which is basically where the whole mark for the module in question comes from.
I was late due to a sudden health issue (a hypoglycaemia fit with the whole unable-to-move-and-see thing) but I wasn’t registered for the disability service because I didn’t think it necessary. You know. Like an idiot.
Long story short I did apply for extenuating circumstances but I’m freaking out, so I started trying to figure out what the late submission penalties are in case my EC application is for some reason unsuccessful — do they completely fail buffoons like me, do they cap it at 40%, do they give a bigger penalty percentage every day… but I couldn’t find anything. So can anyone answer?
I know they allow students to resubmit in the summer, or retake the module next year — except I’m a Y3 student, so there’s no “next year” for me. This is the first time I’m ever late with a submission (just by 2 hours as well) so I really don’t know what to think.
I just wanna be able to graduate, lads.
(edited 5 years ago) 5 years agoPlease go and see your academic department and tell them about this as soon as you can.
It will help if you can get some documentary evidence from the doctor or hospital, but just tell them in any case.
The disability team can help with adjustments or support, but this is a separate issue to (and may not influence) your mitigating circumstances, so you shouldn't blame yourself for not contacting them.
Also, if you need any general advice you are welcome to drop into the Student Centre in RHB.
I'm so sorry to hear about your health scare and do hope you feel better soon, which is the most important thing.
